Tenants from several Home in Place social and affordable housing sites came together for a well attended morning tea at one of our Adamstown housing complexes on Wednesday 14 May.

It was a relaxed and welcoming morning where the nearly 30 tenants in attendance enjoyed a bacon and egg roll, catch up with neighbours and connect with local services.

A key highlight was the attendance of Hearing Australia, who brought along their mobile hearing bus and carried out eight hearing checks on the day. Some tenants presented with complex hearing needs and will be supported through further follow up.

Vinnies’ Continuing Coordinated Care Program was also in attendance. This discreet and voluntary service offers case management support for people with health and social support needs. As with previous events, those who wished to speak with the service could do so confidentially.

Home in Place Tenancy Relations Officers were on hand to chat with tenants, provide advice and follow up on any tenancy related questions.

Along with the support services available, the event gave tenants the chance to get to know each other and help build a stronger sense of community. All of the bacon and egg rolls were claimed, which was a good sign of an engaging morning!

These local morning teas are one of the many ways we aim to create informal, friendly spaces for Home in Place social and affordable housing tenants to come together and access support in a way that suits them.
