The 2025 NSW Housing Summit, facilitated by the Property Council of Australia, marked a crucial moment for the state’s housing future, bringing together government leaders, industry partners, and innovators to discuss solutions to one of the most pressing challenges of our time. Home in Place was proud to contribute to this vital conversation as both a sponsor and a participant.

The summit offered a rare chance for open dialogue between government and industry. Executive Manager Strategic Growth, Scott Bacon, represented Home in Place and had the honour of introducing the Minister for Water, Housing and Homelessness, the Hon. Rose Jackson MLC.

“It was a great opportunity to put the role of Community Housing Providers front and centre,” said Mr Bacon.

Throughout the day, Scott and Project Manager Property Development and Acquisition, Michael Nolan, engaged in meaningful discussions with other delegates on the challenges and opportunities shaping the housing landscape. Topics included planning and development lead times, the benefits and barriers facing the Housing Delivery Authority, and the critical role Community Housing Providers (CHPs) play in delivering social and affordable housing across the state.

“There was a real sense of momentum,” Mr Bacon said. “The Minister referred to CHPs as the Government’s ‘BFFs’, which reflects the strong and growing partnership between our sector and government in tackling the housing crisis.”

Discussions also explored:

  • the affordability challenges caused by labour shortages, rising costs, taxes and levies
  • the growth of modular construction and its potential to fast-track delivery
  • the significance of major projects such as the Broadmeadow Master Plan, which will bring more than 20,000 new homes to market

The Housing Summit also featured a showcase of modular housing innovation, which captured the attention of many in the room and pointed to a faster, more scalable future for housing delivery.

Home in Place thanks the Property Council of Australia for hosting the event and providing a platform for collaboration and advocacy. We remain committed to working alongside government and industry to deliver high-quality, affordable housing to those who need it most.
