We congratulate CHIA and PowerHousing Australia on their successful merger and the formation of Australian Community Housing (ACH), a unified national voice for the community housing sector.

The decision, endorsed by PowerHousing members at their Special General Meeting on 25 June 2025, marks an exciting and significant milestone. This merger reflects a collective commitment to greater collaboration, stronger advocacy, and deeper impact for the people and communities we serve.

We acknowledge and thank the leaders and members of both CHIA and PowerHousing Australia for their work in bringing this vision to life. ACH will now build on the strengths and legacy of both organisations, supporting community housing providers and advancing policy and practice across the country.

The inaugural ACH Board brings together a wealth of experience and leadership from across Australia:

  • Joe Achmar – Acting CEO, SGCH (St George Community Housing), New South Wales
  • Andrew McAnulty – CEO, Link Wentworth, New South Wales
  • Judy Line – Board Member, Women’s Housing Limited, Victoria
  • Stacey Northover – Executive General Manager, Believe Housing Australia, South Australia
  • Rebecca Oelkers – CEO, Brisbane Housing Company (BHC), Queensland
  • Andrew Elvin – CEO, Coast2Bay Housing Group, Queensland
  • Geoff Slack – CEO, YourPlace Housing, South Australia
  • Chris Smith – CEO, Foundation Housing, Western Australia

We look forward to working closely with the new ACH Board and continuing our shared mission to deliver secure, affordable homes and better outcomes for tenants.

Congratulations to all involved in this important step forward for our sector.
