Home in Place was proud to sponsor the Ministerial Address by NSW Minister for Housing and Homelessness, Rose Jackson, at the 2026 NSW Housing Summit in Sydney.

Hosted by the Property Council of Australia, the summit brought together leaders from government, development, finance, infrastructure and the housing sector to discuss the challenges and opportunities shaping housing delivery across New South Wales.

With major planning reforms underway and housing targets set, this year’s summit focused on the practical realities of increasing housing supply, with discussions spanning planning, financing, infrastructure and delivery.

In sponsoring the Ministerial Address, Home in Place used the opportunity to highlight the human impact behind housing policy and housing delivery decisions.

Introducing Minister Jackson to the stage, Home in Place Group Executive Manager Marketing and Public Affairs Martin Kennedy reminded delegates that behind every housing target, planning reform and development project are real people waiting for a safe and secure place to call home.

“Behind all the policy details, the funding rounds, the zoning changes and the delivery targets, there is a very real human issue,” Mr Kennedy said.

Drawing on Home in Place’s experience as a community housing provider, Mr Kennedy spoke about the impact delayed or unviable housing projects can have on individuals and families experiencing housing insecurity.

“Housing is where people build their lives. It impacts people’s health outcomes, educational attainment, workforce participation and personal relationships,” he said.

“It is absolutely impossible to make a decent go of anything else in your life if you don’t have your housing situation sorted.”

Minister Jackson spoke about the vital role safe, secure and stable housing plays in all aspects of life. Her address reflected both the importance of housing as a foundation for wellbeing and a clear understanding of the feasibility pressures currently affecting housing delivery across the state.

The summit also featured an address from NSW Minister for Planning and Public Spaces Paul Scully and a series of panel discussions examining the factors influencing housing supply across New South Wales.

Discussions throughout the day explored:

  • The role of planning reform in accelerating housing delivery
  • Opportunities to expand build to rent, student accommodation and land lease communities
  • Financing challenges and opportunities facing housing projects
  • The importance of infrastructure in supporting housing growth
  • Innovative approaches to housing delivery and construction
  • Economic conditions influencing future housing supply

The summit provided an opportunity for Home in Place to engage with government, industry and housing sector leaders on the policies, partnerships and practical solutions needed to increase housing supply across New South Wales.

As one of Australia’s largest community housing providers, Home in Place continues to advocate for more social and affordable housing and for solutions that help ensure more people can access safe, secure and affordable homes.
