Experience

James is an experienced company director with governance experience across property, infrastructure, local government, and community-focused organisations. He is Executive Director of The Terrace Christchurch and currently serves as an independent director of Canterbury Rugby, Westroads Ltd, Transwaste Canterbury Ltd, and Te Rūnanga o Waihao Holdings Ltd. He is also an Advisory Board member of Development West Coast, a member of the Fendalton–Waimairi–Harewood Community Board, and sits on the South Island Regional Committee of Property Council New Zealand.

James previously served five terms as a Christchurch City Councillor and was closely involved in the city’s earthquake recovery and rebuild, including work alongside central government, iwi, and the private sector on major infrastructure and housing-related initiatives, including the establishment of the Ōtautahi Community Housing Trust. He brings a commercially grounded, long-term perspective with strengths in property, risk, and investment strategy.
