Home in Place has been named a finalist in the Outstanding Community Organisation category at the 2025 Business Hunter Awards.
This year’s awards attracted more than 220 entries, making it the most competitive program in the event’s history. Being recognised as a finalist highlights the impact of our work in providing safe and affordable housing and supporting stronger, more inclusive communities across the Hunter and beyond.
With over 7,500 properties under management, Home in Place is one of the largest not for profit community housing providers in Australia. Our mission goes beyond housing as we are committed to empowering people, connecting communities and influencing the future. Through our tenancy services, advocacy work and community programs, we help relieve hardship and open doors to greater social and economic participation.
Some of the initiatives that contributed to this recognition include:
- Community participation programs that connect tenants to support services, build financial resilience and enhance wellbeing
- Tenant reference groups and our Tenant Inclusion Panel, which ensure tenant voices shape policy and decision making
- Partnerships with local services providing access to healthcare, training, employment pathways and family support
- My Place Property Maintenance, offering training and apprenticeships that support local jobs and skills development
The 2025 Business Hunter Awards will be held on Friday 12 September at NEX Newcastle. The evening will begin at 6:00pm and is a black tie event with tables of ten available.
Being named a finalist is a proud moment for our team, our tenants and the many partners who help us deliver on our vision that everyone should have an appropriate and affordable place to call home.
We look forward to joining the region’s business community in September to celebrate this recognition.
