The events were organised by local Tenant Reference Groups (TRGs) in the NSW Newcastle, Hunter, Central Coast, Broken Hill, Mid North Coast regions and in Brisbane.
Home in Place CEO Australia Lyndall Robertshaw said the expos were fun and informative. She congratulated the TRGs for their hard work in putting on the events.
“The expos brought Home in Place tenants and staff together to together to some enjoy some fun activities, a bite to eat, and a catch up,” Ms Robertshaw said.
“There was also an opportunity for tenants to connect with other service providers from their area,” she said.
“The expos are another example of how we work with tenants to empower them to participate in their community.
“Our mission is providing homes as well as empowering people, connecting communities and influencing the future.”
TRGs provide a local forum for tenants and staff to discuss key aspects of Home in Place’s service.
Members meet quarterly and discussions from each TRG feed into an overarching Our Voice Panel which reports directly to the Home in Place Board. This ensures tenant’s views influence policy and decision making at the highest levels. Tenants wishing to find out more or to join their Tenant Reference Group should contact their local Community Participation Officer.
Home in Place tenant Elaina joined the Brisbane TRG in 2020 and was recently appointed to the Our Voice Panel. Elaina is passionate about community housing and encourages other tenants to join their local TRG. You can read Elaina’s story here.
