Home in Place is proud to announce that 100 tenants have been awarded scholarships as part of our inaugural First Aid Scholarships initiative. This program, designed to support tenants in gaining essential first aid skills, received an overwhelming response, with around 220 expressions of interest submitted.
Local branch staff played a key role in the selection process, ensuring scholarships were distributed across multiple regions, including Brisbane, Broken Hill, Central Coast, Dubbo, East Maitland, Lake Macquarie, Newcastle, Taree, and Upper Hunter.
Successful applicants will attend a first aid course through their local provider, equipping them with essential life-saving skills. Tenants applied for a variety of reasons, including personal development, job requirements, career advancement, and contributing to their communities. Many saw first aid training as a way to improve their employment prospects, while others wanted to gain valuable skills for voluntary and community work.
This initiative would not have been possible without the dedication of our Community Programs Officers (CPOs), with special thanks to Newcastle CPO Meaghan, who led the coordination of this first round of scholarships. Given the strong demand and positive impact, Home in Place is committed to establishing this as an ongoing program, providing more tenants with the opportunity to develop these crucial skills in the future.
Congratulations to all our scholarship recipients!
We look forward to seeing the benefits of this initiative across our communities.
